No account
Lyt has no account and no login. The app identifies your device with an anonymous UUID: a random id that is not tied to your name, your email, your Apple ID or anything else about you.
Recording and transcription in the EU
Recording happens locally on your device. Only when a recording needs to be processed is the audio sent to Lyt's backend (Cloudflare Workers) and on to AssemblyAI, which does the transcription in the EU (Dublin). The audio does not leave the EU during transcription. Lyt's server never stores the audio file, and at AssemblyAI both the audio file and the transcript are deleted the moment Lyt has fetched the result. Audio processed in the EU is also exempt from model training at AssemblyAI. Your meetings are not used to train AI models.
While the report is being built
If you close the app along the way, Lyt's server keeps working and leaves the result ready for you. For as long as that work is running, the conversation, your profile and your email address sit temporarily with Lyt (Cloudflare, global).
The moment the report is finished, the conversation, the profile and the email address are cleared. The report itself stays until your device has fetched it, and at most an hour after that. If nobody fetches it, it expires by itself after 72 hours. The report contains the conversation, unless you have chosen not to keep it. Your AI key is cleared in the same place when the work ends.
The coach feedback is also kept for 24 hours, so a retry after a dropped connection returns the same answer without a new AI call. This is the feedback only, not the conversation. It expires by itself after those 24 hours, also if you delete your data in the app.
Coach feedback: Lyt's engine or your own key
The coach feedback can be generated in two ways. With Lyt Plus it runs on Lyt's own Anthropic agreement, and AI content is still not trained on by the provider. If you instead choose your own key (Anthropic, OpenAI or Azure), the feedback is generated under your own agreement with the provider: Lyt only passes it on, and the key is never logged or stored server side. None of the providers train on API content. The feedback is AI generated and is marked as such in the summary.
The whole conversation is sent for feedback, with everyone who speaks. The voice you picked as your own is marked, so the feedback is about you. The others' lines come along because the feedback needs to see what you were responding to.
Connected meeting tools
You can connect Lyt with your meeting tools so transcripts arrive on their own. The connections work differently, and the difference matters for where your data is:
- Microsoft Teams: the access lives solely on your own device (in the Keychain), and Lyt reads transcript files from your OneDrive.
- Zoom and Google Meet: Lyt's backend stores access and refresh tokens encrypted (Cloudflare KV) and receives or fetches your meeting transcripts. They are delivered to the app on your device and deleted from the server on collection, and after 7 days at the latest.
Specifically about Google data
Lyt's use of data from Google APIs follows Google's API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In the wording Google requires:
"Lyt's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements."
Email delivery (optional)
If you choose to get summaries by email, they are sent via Resend. That only happens if you have entered an email address in the app yourself. You can remove it again at any time.
No tracking
The app contains no analytics and no tracking. We don't know which screens you use or how often you open the app, and no third party is watching.
Anonymous error reports
When something goes wrong in the app, it sends a short message to Lyt's own server: which error it was, which step it happened in, the app version and your platform (iPhone, Mac or PC). If the app shut down because of an error, it sends the same kind of message the next time you open it.
The message never contains audio, transcript, feedback, name, email or the device id, and it can't be traced back to you. We only use it to find and fix errors. The numbers are deleted after 40 days.
Deletion
In the app's settings you can delete all data tied to your device on the server. That removes the device record, your receipts and any work in progress along with its content. Coach feedback from the last 24 hours may sit in a short cache for up to a day before it expires by itself. If you have questions, or want to be sure everything is gone, write to mail@martinibsen.dk.
The others in the meeting
Danish law allows you to record a conversation you take part in yourself. The other participants are still covered by data protection rules, and the durable practice is to say that you are recording and to respect a no. Lyt cannot do that for you: the app does not know who is in the room, and that is deliberate. There is no calendar access and no bot joining the meeting.
If your workplace uses Lyt, the employer is the data controller and Lyt is the processor. Lyt is intended for self-coaching, not for evaluating employees: there is no manager access, no scores and no reporting to anyone but you.
Who is behind it
Lyt is developed and operated by Martin Ibsen, Danish business registration no. (CVR) 34303320, Kaløvej 81, 8543 Hornslet, Denmark. Martin Ibsen is the data controller for the processing described here.
